Unveiling the Plaque depicting the state flower of Colorado, the columbine, are David Hede, Mayor of the Bega Valley Shire and Phil McDonald, President of the Bega-Littleton Citizens' Exchange.
From the Bega District News, July 5, 2002The Stars and Stripes and the flag of Colorado were raised at the Bega Valley Shire's flagpoles yesterday (Thursday) to celebrate US Independence Day, July 4. The president of the Bega-Littleton Citizens' Exchange organisation, Mr Phil McDonald, also unveiled a plaque on the rock which holds the plaques commemorating the services to the Bega-Littleton association of Curly Annabel and Houston Waring. The new plaque is a coloured one of the state flower of Colorado, the columbine. After the Columbine High School massacre in Littleton, presents poured into the school and this was one of them. The school had so many gifts that the Littleton delegation was given one, the columbine plaque, to bring to Bega.
